Simple Criteria for a Prime Number

The below is a full criteria for prime numbers. 
  • Must be a whole number: It cannot be a fraction or a decimal (like 2.5).

 

  • Must be greater than 1: The number 1 is not considered prime.

 

  • The "Two-Factor" Rule: It can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself.

 

  • No other "Building Blocks": You cannot multiply any other two smaller numbers other than 1 and itself together to create it. 

 

  • 2 is the only even prime number.
