People Can't do Basic Math and Educators are Horrified

There is a physics illiteracy problem in the world right now:

The above video addresses this problem perfectly.

However, why is this a problem? There is no way that a person uninterested in the base laws of how the world works would need this knowledge, right?

Yes everyone uses a basic grasp of the laws of physics to navigate their life. That's why you have to open and close a door without exerting too much force. Open or close a door with too much force and you risk damaging the door.

The only people who don't have a grasp of these laws of physics are babies, who in their adorable journey to understand primitive laws of physics often breaks things.

Babies appear to be born with intuitive knowledge of the laws of physics and within 2 to 5 months of age they understand that unsupported objects fall, which maybe this individual forgot about. By a years time, they start testing cause-and-effect dropping objects on purpose to see what will happen. They also test different materials to see how they interact with each other.

You'll never use Newton's second law to know how to open a door.

"The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting upon it and inversely proportional to its mass."

F = m*a

You can't get something for nothing which means:

"The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another."

Following the above 2 laws of physics, the truth is that it equals 100 Newtons.

This is because the object is not accelerating, so net force does not apply here. Which means that there would be a total of 100 Newtons of pressure spread out over the whole object.
