How This 16 Year Old From a Small Australian City Works at NASA

In 2019 I had the honor to meet this Sri Lankan boy in a small city in Australia:

Competing in a competition at NASA at age 7 in 2017, Megha got recognized twice by NASA. Following that he developed a business plan to detect illegal fishing using space technology.

Following this, he was invited to University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory which led him to do work on a satellite that saw NASA imaging asteroid Bennu.

This doesn't make him special however, it's his ideology:

By ignoring vices that impact the human mind, a person can become enhance their thinking more than that of the average human being. He describes vices as the following:

  1. Video games
  2. YouTube
  3. TV series and binging
  4. Cartoons and anime
  5. Drugs
  6. Other addictions

The above delay the progress of the individual. Megha says the below increases the progress and ambition of the individual:

  1. Meditation
  2. Journals and Note-taking
  3. Scheduling your day
  4. Solving logic problems
  5. Quiet thinking time- blocking out time during the day where you let your mind wonder

For reference, Megha doesn't keep his laptop or computer in his room when he does his things. Interestingly enough, Megha's dedication to space science can be attributed to early development and maturation.

Even at his young age, he seems to have a good grasp on philosophical concepts about human emotion and craving that adults struggle to understand and apply to their daily lives.

Megha's YouTube Channel

It is evident that even with no views, that Megha continued to persevere with his YouTube channel when he was younger.

Again, evidence to a mind that matured early.

A video posted in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic got 90k views. It shows how he promoted meditation early.

Thank you for reading.
